Braided Money Tree

I have a money plant in a water pot (no soil only water). It had no issues for years.
I accidently dropped a penny (copper coin) in the pot. Lazy as I am, I did not remove the coin. I noticed a new leave and then the biggest leave became yellow and fell off.
I removed the coin and cleaned out the water. Now two other leaves have become yellow and are in the verge of falling off. Its dying!!! Help!!!
