What are the best growing conditions for a Money Tree?

I have a Money Tree plant, and it keeps going through various stages of growing well, and loosing all it’s leaves. I have yet to figure out the best place to put it, in direct sun or shade, or what. Every time it gets growing well, a few weeks later it starts loosing all its leaves again. There’s clearly something it needs that I’m not giving it, and I don’t know what!
