my money tree plant (pachira plant)?

i have a money tree plant, and when i received it, it had a couple of ties holding the upper base of the plant together. i’ve left the ties on there, but i was wondering if i’m supposed to or if i’m to take them off. it’s a braided money tree that stands about a foot tall. any help would be appreciated! thanks!
