my braided money tree has fruit flies?

hi, i have two braided money tree plants, they are in indirect sunlight They’ve been fine for about 4mths, now I see a spot of white mold on one of them and there are fruit flies! The leaves are turning brown and falling off. I cant understand why seeing as how I’m not doing anything differently than I did the first four months. Please help I really don’t want to lose them.
