I have a braided money tree, two of the trunks died. What do I do?

I’ve had my money tree for close to a year now and it’s been doing very well. I care for it like you would a succulent. I did a lot of research and that’s what was said to be the best and it has been. I just noticed that one of the five trunks has died and a second one is getting squishy too. What should I do? Do I attempt to take it apart and take those out? The other three are doing great.
