anyone heard of a money tree in a wedding?

has anyone ever heard of a money tree to put at their wedding? my mom had one and I was thinking of doing it for my wedding (october 24th, 2009). and I was reading online that you should put in your invitation that you are going to have a money tree jus in case someone doesn’t know what to get you… so how would i even go about putting that in the invitation without sounding rude or making them feel like they need to put on it?
