Cutting back/pruning a money tree ?

I have a money tree that’s grown to 5 feet I’d like to cut it down as short as possible to train it into a braid- can I do this or will I kill my tree? Can I save the parts of stem I cut off ? Will they re-root?
Any info would be great as I need to do something before it get’s broken-thank you
