Is It necessary to repot my money tree?

I received a money tree as a gift less then a year ago and I have noticed that the dirt is slowly lowering in the pot that it is in. I am a terrible green thumb and this is the only plant that has stuck with me and I would really love to keep it around for awhile. Do I just add more soil to the pot or should I repot?
The money tree has a braided trunk.

    Well, I have a money tree myself…
so hopefully this will be of amazing help.

    are the roots exposed?
What you should do is re-pot it.
The soil needs to be replenished since it isnot outside and in the ground.
But soem potting soil. and re-pot the thing.
Then water it really well.. and hopefully it will spring bakck to life.
