No gifts please or money tree available?

Posted by BMT Blogger
Deborah S asked:

My daughter and her fiancee are in the military and stationed in Hawaii. They are getting married here on the mainland. It is cost prohibitive for them to ship gifts home, and there are no similar stores in both places for gift cards. How do we let guests know that money would be better so they could purchase household items from the base exchange where it’s less expensive for them?

Sorry, but it is rude to ask that of the guests.

Tell them just what you’ve told us. I’m all about telling what’s going on and what really helps.

You don’t. You don’t get married and invite people with the intention of having them bring gifts.
